Have you ever woke in the middle of the night to one of your hands completely numb? The post-numbing feeling, which is almost indescribable, dreadfully comes after. The image I have when I am going through this moment in the night is the scene from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets where he breaks his arm after he fell off his broom and he ends up in the hospital with no bones. It feels as if the blood rushing back to your numb limb holds this dose of drug crossing between tingly and painful. When I move it during the sensation it hurts even more as if I’ve just tapped a smooth water surface and the pain are the ripples expanding bigger and bigger.

Last night, I woke up to both of my arms numb. I lost all sensation from my shoulders all the way down to my finger tips. The reason it came to being numb was because I slept on my arms somehow and it broke my blood circulation and as I woke up I couldn’t feel them. It was difficult to get up, so I used my head and my knees to bring myself up to a kneeling position and then I swung both my arms over to the side so that I can sleep on my back. When I finally had the blankets on top of me using my feet to kick it over my body, my legs felt my numb hands and it seriously felt I was in contact with another human body. The skin on my arms had no feelings and at the moment, it was a shock and horrific experience.

First I couldn’t feel anything, then the pins and needles sensation kicked in throbbing out of control. Makes me want to shout out mudderfocker! OUCH! I think that if I wait the pain out without moving my hand, it would be longer and more painful, so I wiggle my fingers really fast so I get the pain over with.
